Blast Rooms and Enclosures

Blast rooms and enclosures are constructed in industrial, chemical, and biological facilities. They provide a controlled environment for the safe storage, processing, production, and disposal of hazardous materials. They also facilitate the transport, processing, packaging, and transport of finished products. The facilities usually employ a combination of automatic and manual handling systems. Blast rooms and enclosures have come in many shapes and sizes depending on the required application.

The most common type of Custom Powder Coating Blast Rooms is the closed-cell foam blast cabinet. These are used to separate powdery compound, combustible gasses from the air during the blasting process. Closed-cell foam construction ensures minimal dust exposure while maximizing temperature and air control. Closed-cell foam construction is also ideal for applications where temperature and air control are critical since the unit does not rely on blower power to maintain the desired working temperatures. The open-cell design utilizes an injection port that allows pressurized air to be directed inside the unit for dust collection.

A blast cabinet with an integrated dust collector is an ideal solution for dust collection in an indoor environment. This design reduces dust airborne in the surrounding area and eliminates the need for secondary cooling vents or doors. In addition, the sealed and insulated interior chamber also protects from high-velocity dust and protects personnel from exposure. The chamber also serves as a secondary dust collector for any other applications that require a dust collection system in such applications as chemical plants, pharmaceutical companies, power plants, chemical factories, and manufacturing facilities.

There are also sandblast cabinets and dust collectors available for outdoor applications. Outdoor blast equipment features hose designs and airbags to maximize airflow into the enclosure. The most common outside applications include soil, water, oil, sand, and gravel blasting. These applications require special indoor environments to ensure cleanliness, reduce exposure to airborne dust and mold spores and provide the necessary temperature and humidity controls.
